Abby first reached out to us in January of 2016. From the moment we first met her and Brock we were so excited for their big day. Nestled in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains, Claxton Farm provided the most beautiful of backdrops, only trumped on the day by the bride. Abby was stunning in her white dress accompanied by her unique pendent bouquet. This charming Southern couple hosted the most charming Southern wedding and its definitely one we will remember for years to come.
Congratulation, Abby and Brock!
Brock and Abby met at UNC-Charlotte where they both attended college. Brock played baseball and lived above Abby at Pavillon Crossings with a few of his teammates. After dinner with her roommate one night, a few of the players came barging in their apartment uninvited. Brock immediately went to the refrigerator and made himself a turkey sandwich. This was the first time that they had ever met.
The next morning on her way to Concord High School, where she was student teaching, a friend called and said that her car magnet of her boxer, Tugboat, was missing. Abby had a feeling it was Brock who took her magnet. That night Abby received a note under the door that said:
From: Brock Hudgens
To: The girl with the lost magnet AKA...Abbs
If you ever want to see your magnet again text or call this number. This is my way of getting your number!
Abby knew that Brock thought he was slick, so she decided not to text or call that number, thinking that he would eventually put the magnet back. When he didn't, Abby gave in. Brock insisted that the only way for her to get the magnet back was for her to go on a date with him. Abby agreed and the following week Brock took Abby to the Bass Pro Shop followed by dinner at McAllisters. The rest is history!
Abby graduated UNC-Charlotte that spring and moved back home to take a position teaching English as a Second Language. She drove to Charlotte almost every weekend to watch Brock play baseball. In June of 2014, Brock was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers and moved to Arizona for the season. Abby flew out for a week to spend time with him and watch his games. In February of 2015, Brock left for baseball again. This time he played in Arizona, Wisconsin, and Montana before being released a week before Abby was scheduled to fly out. Now they both live an hour away from each other in North Carolina.
Brock and Abby are the same age for only 1 weekend out of the year. During this weekend, Brock had told Abby that he was taking her somewhere for her "birthday surprise". On October 25th, Brock took Abby to the Banner Elk Winery for what she thought was a wine tasting. During the wine tasting, the owner of the winery came in to tell them that a photographer was coming in to take pictures of the winery for her portfolio. Abby thought nothing of it. The owner asked Brock to carry wood down to the fire pit so they could start a fire. Abby thought it was weird that they were asking a customer to carry wood. Once the fire was built, the musician, who was running late, finally made it to the winery and started singing. Brock asked Abby if she wanted to go sit by the fire. Once they got down there he asked her to dance. This is when Abby knew something was up, because they never dance!
Once they were in front of the fire and were starting to dance, Brock backed away and said that before they danced, he had an important question to ask her. He literally jerked the ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee. Abby covered her face. He said her full name, told her he loved her, and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Abby didn't say yes right away; instead she asked if he had her parents blessing and what exactly did her Momma and Daddy say. Finally, after having a full conversation, Abby said yes! Brock stood up and they continued to dance. Brock told Abby on the way home why he had chosen this particular weekend in October. It was because they were both 24 at the same time."
"Joshua and Adam were absolutely amazing! I spoke with 17 videographers, but wasn't impressed. I had decided to stop looking into videographers when I came across Digital Spark Studios on Wedding Wire. I made an appointment to meet with them that weekend. We were blown away with their professionalism, talent, and experience. My husband and I knew that they were going to be perfect for our wedding. On the day of our wedding, they filmed from morning until night! They fit in seamlessly and captured every single detail. Everyone commented on how they couldn't wait to see the final product. I've even had some guests check-in to see when the film would be ready! We just received our wedding film and it is beyond perfect! The amount of time and work they put into making their wedding films is unbelievable. This was easily the best decision and investment we made concerning our wedding! Hats off to Joshua and Adam for capturing our day perfectly!"
